What’s your role at Zego and where do you sit within the organisation?
I’m A Sales Team Lead and sit on the Customer Success Team.
What did you do before you worked at Zego and where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Before I started at Zego, I was in the Army and then worked as a New Business Executive for a subprime lending company - I learnt a lot from that experience.
In 5 years time, I hope to have transitioned into a data science role.
What do you love about your job?
What I love most about my role at Zego are my peers and colleagues; they are some really amazing people.
Who have you learnt the most from at Zego so far? What have you learnt from them?
I’d have to say, two people. Firstly, Angela Asamoah, our Head of Customer Experience, who has taught me how to work well under pressure. Secondly, I’ve learnt a bit of what it takes to get to the top-level in business from our Co-founder, Harry Franks.
What advice would you give to a Zegon on their first day?
Embrace the pace!
How would your 10-year-old self react to what you do now?
I would cry in awe of where I am in life today. I grew up very poor and never ever dreamed I'd be able to afford this lifestyle and job that I have.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Save more, spend less.
Tell us about your typical working day…
My typical workday starts with a team huddle, checking the latest data to see how I can help the team sell on the day. After this, I usually take my break and go for a walk with my partner.
On my return from lunch, I dive into the data to see how the team is performing against their targets. I then check in with Ange (Head of Customer Experience) or look out for any ad-hoc tasks she may have for me after I get back from lunch.
No two days are the same. Every day presents a new challenge as a team lead.
If you could entice one (famous?) person, alive or dead, to work at Zego, who would it be and why?
Zack Snyder. I just love his films and I love his never give up attitude.
If you had unlimited money to start your own business, what would it be?
I would start a financial education school.
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off?
With my kids. I work very hard and don't get to spend as much time with them, so any chance I get, I spend it with them.
Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list and why?
Japan because I’m a massive anime fan.
