Thank you, scooter delivery riders

Our thank you to scooter delivery riders for the essential work that they are doing in these uncertain times.

Whether it’s by delivering food or parcels, scooter delivery riders have always played an important role in society. But now, as the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to develop, their work is essential. There are many people, including those who are vulnerable or self-isolating, who now rely on the work of delivery riders to get food and other essential items.

Just as scooter delivery riders support the country, we feel proud that Zego can support them. To say thank you, and to help raise awareness of the bravery and hard work of every scooter delivery rider across the country, we have captured the story of Sohail, as he continues with his delivery work through these challenging times.

Sohail is originally from Pakistan and came to England in 2010 to study. He enjoys delivery work because of the flexibility it offers. As a delivery rider, he can fit his work in around his studies and assignments. On a normal day, Sohail starts work at 5pm and finishes up at 11pm.

As a result of the lockdown, Sohail’s life has completely changed. As soon as it was announced, he talked through his options with his family, but, as a key worker, he felt compelled to go to work and help those who are stuck inside. Sohail feels proud of the work he is doing, although he is aware of the dangers or working during this time. Whilst he is healthy, he sees it as his duty to help other people by continuing with his delivery work.

At Zego, we understand the importance of the work that scooter delivery riders are doing. That’s why we will continue to do everything we can to support people like Sohail as they bravely support the country. If you have a 30-day or Annual scooter insurance policy with Zego and you cannot work due to suspected COVID-19, we will offer you a 14-day credit notice against the renewal of your policy. We don’t want any of our customers to have to pay for cover they aren’t using, so you shouldn’t have to spend money on insurance if you can’t work.

Zego scooter insurance customers can temporarily downgrade to a Social, Domestic & Pleasure (SD&P) only policy. Instead of cancelling your insurance and having to declare your bike off-road, you can temporarily downgrade your cover. This option provides you with a cost-effective alternative to keeping your delivery insurance in place and it means that you are still insured for personal use of your scooter.

If you find yourself working fewer hours during this time, you may wish to consider switching to our pay-as-you-go delivery insurance. With this option, you are only charged for the time you work, which can help you save money on the cost of your cover if you’re working less.

We will make sure that our customers are aware of all the options we have available during this time and we are available to offer support 7 days a week. Visit our scooter insurance page to find out more information about our cover.

We would like to thank scooter delivery riders for their essential work as they help keep the nation moving.
