Flexibility is one of the cornerstones of our business - for our employees as well as our customers - so occasional working from home has always been a key part of Zego life. However, as much of the world adjusts to working remotely full-time, we’re getting our Zegons to share how they organise their workspaces, their favourite things about remote working and some tips on how to make the most of working at home.

First up, introduce yourself! Who are you and what’s your role at Zego?

I’m Lara, and I work in the Spanish office at Zego as a Client Operations Associate, which means I’m responsible for account management and being a direct point of contact for our clients.

What’s your favourite thing about working remotely?

The best thing is the fact that I don’t have to commute - it’s great that I get that time spare, which I can use to get some extra sleep! I also get to spend more quality time with my dog, Blanquita.

Is there anything you’ve found frustrating about working remotely? How have you overcome this?

I used to be a freelance translator, which meant I worked from home all the time. The thing that I found the most difficult at that time was being alone. However, that hasn’t happened so much this time around, mostly because I am in constant contact with my coworkers.

Have you got any creative (or not so creative) WFH recipes that you’ve been making?

I often cook torrijas which is a Spanish dessert, typically eaten around Semana Santa (our version of Easter). I may miss Easter, but I am not missing my torrijas!

What have you been doing to maintain your physical and mental wellbeing?

For me, the most important things to do to stay mentally and physically well is to exercise regularly and stay in touch with friends and family.

Do you have any tips for others working remotely?

Schedule your calendar as if you are working at the office and also include activities other than just work! Also, try to find a good place at home and adapt it so that you can work as comfortably as possible: a good chair, a big screen and good lighting. An amazing view helps too!
