Moving Country: a foreword by our CEO, Sten Saar

I massively respect anyone that moves country because it takes a lot of courage. Coming from somewhere where you’re comfortable with everything (i.e. the people, places and languages) and moving to a completely different country and, essentially, starting from scratch, can be really daunting.

Personally, I’d encourage anyone thinking about it to just do it! I believe anyone that is able to move their whole life and settle somewhere completely new will be a more well-rounded, thoughtful and ambitious person at the end of it.

Starting from scratch anywhere in the world can be really difficult. Questions like, ‘where am I going to get my favourite food?’, ‘how do I get my internet sorted?’ or ‘how am I going to do my taxes?’ all pop into your head at the same time and it can be hard to organise yourself amidst the chaos. However, I feel that it’s the management of yourself through these challenging times that build your character and resilience.

At Zego we have employees of over 30 different nationalities and I believe this exposure to new cultures, ideas and ways of thinking, for anyone that’s moved from another country, can be invaluable to your development not only as a Zegon but as a person too. Building a wealth of knowledge, skills and connections in a different country means that one day, if you ever decide to go back to your home country, you’ll automatically add value to and further enrich the culture of your homeland.

All three founders of Zego are all different nationalities and this diversity is ingrained within our company's DNA. This diversity, I believe, will always remain a part of Zego and ultimately help us build an incredible global business and brand that will last the test of time.
