We are very proud to announce that our Chief Technology Officer, Vicky Wills has won a Green Cube for Excellence in Technology at the Digital Masters Awards. Presented by the Up Group, the award ceremony is an opportunity for companies to nominate extraordinary, European-based executives from within their own organisation or network who have demonstrated excellence in their field over the past year.
This year, the many nominees spanned a variety of categories including CEO of the Year, Excellence in General Management, Commercial Management, Finance, Marketing, Data, Product, Technology, People & Talent, Digital Transformation and Rising Star.
Vicky became Chief Technology Officer at Zego at the start of 2021 and has been a Zegon for just over two years. Functionally, she is responsible for software engineering, data science, business intelligence and pricing (temporarily, actuarial and underwriting functions). Throughout her time as CTO Vicky has overseen the significant changes which have come into place following Zego securing series C funding and achieving Unicorn status. She has led the launch of the Zego Sense app after acquiring a telematics company, managed to establish Product as its own function within Zego in order for its new cross-functional teams to lead the charge in terms of what the company is building and more recently, has taken over the data science and pricing functions.
Alongside her role, Vicky is passionate about empowering women within the technology industry by creating opportunities and environments that anyone from any diverse background can thrive in. When she first joined Zego, only 10% of the team were female. Throughout her time at the company, Vicky has overseen the consistent increase of female employees, in all areas of the business, with women now making up 40% of Zego's tech teams.
