How does Zego insurance work?

Our guide to the different insurance options Zego offers and how they work.

At Zego, we offer a range of insurance policies to suit everyone from part-time delivery and courier drivers to fleet owners with hundreds of vehicles. But regardless of the cover you’re looking for, it’s not always easy to understand how your insurance works and which policy is right for you.

In this post, we’ll take a look at what a range of Zego’s products cover you for, how they work and how you can get started with your quote.

How do flexible policies work?

Zego’s flexible pay-as-you-go delivery insurance is designed to help part-time delivery drivers save on the cost of their insurance. If you work with Deliveroo, Uber Eats or Just Eat, you are charged by the minute with a minimum charge of 1 hour’s cover. Your cover will continue as long as you’re still on deliveries and ends when you stop work.

If you use Zego’s flexible Fleet insurance, you pay a premium that is charged according to how much your vehicles are actually used.

With our usage-based policies, you pay a minimum base rate to ensure your vehicles are always covered. Then, depending on the usage of your vehicles, which we can base on the mileage of your vehicles or how much time they spend on the road, you pay a flexible premium. No matter how much your vehicles are used, you’ll never pay more than your agreed monthly cap.

How do Zego’s fixed term policies work?

If you have a fixed-term policy with Zego, you pay a set amount for your cover at the start of your policy. You’ll then have insurance in place for a defined amount of time. How long your cover lasts depends on the type of policy you have chosen. We offer a range of policies to choose from, including 7-day, 30-day and Annual options, so you can get cover that lasts for as long as you need it.

If you have a 7-day or 30-day policy with Zego, you can also set up a subscription. That way, your next policy begins automatically as soon as your current one ends, so you get continuous cover that works for you.

With Zego’s Annual policies, you may be able to spread the cost of your cover over a series of monthly instalments instead of paying your entire premium in one go.

How do I make changes to my policy?

Once you’ve taken out a policy with Zego, we’ll make sure that you have the right contact details so you can get help with managing your policy. Our team is available 7 days a week and we’ll always be happy to help with any questions you may have.

If you’re a Zego Fleet insurance policyholder, we’ll give you access to your own management portal, where you can add and remove vehicles from your policy.
