We’re delighted to announce that Zego has officially launched in the Republic of Ireland, with pay-as-you-go scooter and car insurance now available for delivery drivers.
Marking the beginning of our international expansion, the Republic of Ireland launch will bring flexible insurance to delivery drivers and riders throughout the country.
With our pay-as-you-go policies already popular within the UK, we thought the time was right to expand into Ireland to address the fact that self-employed workers have been unable to access insurance that matches their needs. To start we have made the insurance available to drivers working with same-day delivery service Vromo and global food delivery company Deliveroo, although we plan to add to our pay-as-you-go insurance products with further flexible options such as as private hire in the future.
Not only are we excited at the prospect of helping workers in Ireland work when they want to, but through bringing flexible insurance options to the country, we’re pleased to be solving a problem that currently leaves drivers at risk of being underinsured.
When delivery drivers are on shift, their standard Social, Domestic & Pleasure insurance does not cover them. They need to have an additional Hire & Reward policy in place to operate legally on the road. Our pay-as-you-go insurance provides that Hire & Reward cover. Thanks to its flexibility, drivers and riders only have to pay for the insurance they need.
Our technology allows us to integrate directly with Deliveroo and WeBringg. Once a delivery driver begins their shift, WeBringg and Deliveroo automatically inform our systems and the driver is then on cover. When the driver finishes their deliveries, our systems are informed again and the driver’s cover switches off. The result is that delivery drivers in Ireland can stop paying for insurance they don’t need, whilst also eliminating the entry barrier of costly annual policies that prevent delivery drivers from exploring the possibilities of delivery work.
