We’re delighted to announce that we have partnered with Ginger to provide insurance for the first e-scooter trial in the UK, which has just launched in the Tees Valley in the north east of England.

At Zego, we believe that it is the duty of insurance to support innovation rather than to hinder it. As e-scooter companies begin UK wide trials in conjunction with the Department for Transport, we are delighted to be playing our part in supporting this new and innovative mobility solution.

By partnering with Ginger, who have initially deployed 100 e-scooters with several hundred more to follow, we are helping them to fulfil their requirements from an insurance and safety point of view. Our fully-integrated solution offers them real-time data analysis, so they can better understand the behavior of their riders, improve their safety and reduce the risks of accidents. Additionally, Ginger will absorb the insurance premium so that no additional cost is charged to their riders.

Sten Saar, CEO & co-founder of Zego, said:

We are delighted to be partnering with Ginger and playing an important part in the UK’s first e-scooter trial. These schemes offer huge potential and will play a key role in helping cities get moving again in a safe and sustainable way. We want to support the growth of this industry across the UK by creating adaptable insurance models to suit the needs of e-scooter fleets, riders and local cities. For this form of transport to be widely adopted and welcomed by all, it’s essential that e-scooters come with the right insurance without causing inconvenience for riders.

At Zego, we are proud to have supported e-scooter companies across the EU since June 2019, taking a data-driven approach as we continue to refine our solutions. Through the data that we collect, we understand the real exposure of e-scooters, so we can learn, iterate and improve our products further.
