Whether you’re just starting out as a food delivery driver, or you’ve been dropping off parcels and food deliveries for a number of years, your insurance is an important part of your work. If you can find a policy that works for you, you can get the protection you need to feel safe at work at a price that suits you.

To work as a car delivery driver, you’ll need to have both Social, Domestic & Pleasure (SD&P) and Hire & Reward (H&R) insurance in place. In this post, we’ll take a look at the different options Zego offers, so you can get cover that works for you.

Combined car delivery insurance (SD&P + H&R)

If you’re looking for one convenient policy that has all the cover you need to work as a car delivery driver, a combined policy could be what you’re after. You can choose between a 30-day or annual policy and select the level of cover that’s right for you.

Our combined delivery insurance is designed for full-time delivery drivers. When you choose this option, you can work with any courier or delivery company to carry food or parcels in exchange for payment.

Pay-as-you-go car delivery insurance (H&R only)

Zego is the only provider of pay-as-you-go H&R insurance in the UK. With our most flexible cover option, you get insurance that works when you do, covering you just for the time you’re on deliveries with any of our partnered work providing platforms, which includes Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Just Eat, Stuart and more.

You pay an hourly rate for your cover, which can vary between £0.80 - £2.30 per hour, and you’re charged by the minute after your first full hour’s charge. Your insurance starts automatically when you start delivering and stops once you’ve finished making deliveries. You can manage your cover and top up your balance using the Zego app.

30-day car delivery insurance (H&R only)

If you have an existing SD&P provider who cannot offer you H&R cover for your delivery work, you can set up a 30-day delivery insurance policy with Zego. Our 30-day H&R cover works alongside your underlying SD&P to give you all the cover you need. You can also set up your policy to renew automatically to get continuous cover that lasts for as long as you need it.

Our 30-day delivery insurance is designed for full-time delivery drivers, working 20 hours per more each week.
