Exploring the available delivery insurance options at Zego and explaining what affects the price of your insurance.

Before getting started with delivery work, you will first need to ensure that you have the correct insurance in place. The price of this insurance will vary depending on the type of policy and the level of cover that you are looking for. In this post, we will take a look at the delivery insurance options available at Zego and explain what factors impact the price of your cover.

Delivery insurance

To use your motor vehicle for food delivery work, you’ll need to have Hire & Reward (H&R) insurance in place alongside your Social, Domestic and Pleasure (SD&P) cover. This will protect you during your shifts and will allow you to carry goods in exchange for payment. Attempting to carry out this work without the necessary cover can result in some severe consequences so it is very important that you ensure you are meeting the requirements. H&R cover is included in all delivery policies at Zego so you can ensure you don’t face this trouble and get started without any issues.

What delivery insurance options does Zego offer to Irish customers?

At Zego, we offer a range of policy types so finding an option suitable for your individual needs is an effortless process. If you only want to work part-time or you’re just looking to try out food delivery work, Zego’s pay-as-you-go H&R cover could be the right choice for you. You only pay for cover during the time you work, so it’s designed to cover drivers or riders who work up to and around 25 hours per week. Prices start from €0.70 and can go up to €0.85 per hour for scooter riders. For car drivers, the hourly rate ranges between €1.10 and €2.20. While you would be needing SD&P cover elsewhere if you would like this option for your car, for scooter riders we can offer an individual SD&P policy alongside this.

If you’re looking to work more than 25 hours per week, you may wish to consider purchasing a 30-day or annual policy. These policies are designed for those working longer hours and mean you can work as much as you like over 30 days or one full year. 30-day policies for scooter delivery can be as low as €110 and car delivery policies generally range between €150 and €300. If committing to a longer-term option is more suitable for you we can offer scooter policies from as low as €960 and car policies from €890*. Generally, you would be saving more in the long term with an annual policy but we understand that this duration of cover is not suitable for everyone.

What affects the price of my insurance?

The price of insurance varies from person to person so paying the same amount for insurance as anyone you know is very unlikely. This is because your policy premium is calculated with a variety of different factors which are very personal to you. Some of these include what vehicle you drive, your age, address as well as your driving and claims history. With these details, the underwriting company will calculate your policy premium.
