Sense non-compatible devices

Before taking out a policy, please make sure your smartphone is compatible with the Zego Sense app. To use the app, your phone needs to meet both of the following:

• Runs Android 8.0 or iOS 16.0, or higher. Older versions are not supported.
• Has an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a compass — the sensors the app uses to measure your driving.

If your phone is missing any of these, the app will not be able to calculate a driver rating and can’t be used with a Zego telematics policy. You can find the devices we've confirmed aren't compatible at the bottom of this page.

How to check your device version

We recommend keeping your phone software up to date and installing updates when prompted. This helps make sure the app continues to work as expected.

iPhone: All iPhones running iOS 16.0 or higher are compatible.

• To check your iOS version, go to Settings > General > About > Software Version.
• If you're on iOS 15 or earlier, you'll need to update before installing Sense.

Android: Compatibility varies by manufacturer and model.

• To check your Android version, go to Settings > About phone > Android version
• If you're on Android 7 or earlier, your device will not be supported.
• If you're on Android 8.0 or higher, please check the list below to confirm your specific model is compatible.

How to check your phone has the right sensors

iPhone: You don't need to check, as every iPhone from the iPhone 5s onwards has all three sensors built in.

Android:

• The easiest way to check is online, and search for your phone model followed by the word "specifications" (for example, "Samsung Galaxy A12 specifications").
• Look for a "sensors" section and check if it lists an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a compass (sometimes called a magnetometer).
• A good site to try is GSMArena, or your phone maker's own website.
• If you'd prefer to check on the phone itself, you can install a free app like Sensor Box for Android or CPU-Z from the Google Play Store.
• Open it, and it'll show you a list of your phone's sensors — as long as you can see the accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass (magnetometer), you're good to go.
