Tesla Telemetry Research Program Terms & Conditions


About the Program

Extracover Limited, trading as Zego (“Zego”, “we”, “us” or “our”), is inviting a limited number of eligible customers to take part in a technical research program (the “Program”).

The Program tests whether Zego can receive telemetry data directly from Tesla vehicles. It is intended to assess technical feasibility and support Zego’s research into connected and autonomous vehicle technology.

Eligible participants who meet the conditions in section 6 will receive a £200 Amazon gift card (the “Amazon Gift Card”).


Participation Period

The Program will run from 14 September 2026 to 10 September 2027, unless Zego ends it earlier in accordance with these terms.


Eligibility

To participate, you must:

  • be a UK resident aged 18 or over;
  • hold an active Zego insurance policy when you join the Program;
  • own, or be properly authorised to use, a Tesla vehicle compatible with the Tesla Fleet API;
  • be able to authorise access to the relevant Tesla account and vehicle; and
  • meet the qualifying conditions in section 6.

Meeting these criteria does not guarantee acceptance onto the Program. We may limit participation where necessary for the purposes of the trial.


How to take part

Replying to Zego’s invitation email only registers your interest in the Program. You will be enrolled once you have completed the onboarding process and Tesla’s authorisation process, at which point Zego will begin receiving your Tesla data.

To take part, you must:

  • complete Zego’s onboarding process;
  • authorise Zego through Tesla’s official authorisation flow;
  • add Zego as a virtual key in the Tesla mobile app;
  • keep the Tesla integration active during the two-week onboarding period; and
  • Accumulate at least 5 hours of driving during the onboarding period.


Data we access and why

As part of the Program, Zego will receive data from Tesla in the following categories:

  • Profile Information: contact details, profile picture and referral information;
  • Vehicle Information: live vehicle data, service history, service scheduling and communications, eligible upgrades, nearby Supercharger locations and ownership details; and
  • Vehicle Location: precise and coarse location, destination information, destination name and route-line data.

We use this data to test the technical feasibility of receiving Tesla telemetry and to support research into connected and autonomous vehicle technology.

We do not use it to set or change your premium, make underwriting decisions, handle claims, carry out fraud checks or determine your eligibility for Zego insurance.

Zego will retain access to the above data for 12 months from the date you authorise the connection, regardless of whether you remain a Zego customer during this period.

Zego processes this data on the basis of legitimate interests, specifically, our legitimate interest in researching and testing connected vehicle technology to inform future products and services.

You may disconnect from the Program at any time. Choosing not to participate, or disconnecting, will not affect your policy, premium, cover, claims, underwriting, fraud checks or relationship with Zego.

Qualifying for the Amazon Gift Card

To receive the Amazon Gift Card:

  • You must complete a two-week onboarding period with the Tesla integration active;
  • You must accumulate at least 5 hours of driving during the onboarding period;
  • Your Zego insurance policy must remain active throughout the onboarding period and at the time of payment.

If any of the above conditions are not met, the Amazon Gift Card will not be issued.

The Amazon Gift Card is limited to 1 per customer.


Receiving the Amazon Gift Card

If you meet the qualifying conditions, we will arrange for our third party supplier to send the £200 Amazon gift card to the email address registered to your Zego policy within 30 days. The Amazon Gift Card is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Use of the Amazon gift card is subject to Amazon’s own terms and conditions.


Changes to or ending the Program

We may amend, suspend or end the Program where reasonably necessary, including because of a technical issue with Tesla’s systems or API, a legal or regulatory requirement, fraud or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

If this happens, we will take reasonable steps to tell affected participants. Any change will not affect a Reward that has already been earned under section 6.


General

Zego reserves the right to withhold or refuse the Amazon Gift Card where it reasonably suspects fraud, abuse, or breach of these Terms and Conditions.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
