5 things to think about before you buy delivery insurance

There is a lot to think about when you’re looking to purchase Delivery insurance. To help make your decision easier, we’ve put together a list of 5 things to consider before you take out a policy.

1. Price

The first question people tend to ask when purchasing insurance is “how much it’s going to cost?”. Nobody wants to pay more than they have to and if two companies are offering the same cover for different prices, why should you pay more?

However, there are lots of other things to consider beyond the price of the policy. Simply picking the cheapest option may not always mean you get the cover you need or want. To help you get an idea of your estimated price as quickly as possible, we’ve designed this simple tool.

2. Level of cover

It’s important to understand the level of cover that you will have, before you purchase your insurance policy. Fully Comprehensive cover offers the most protection, but it will cost you more and although Third Party Only cover will work out cheaper, you will not be covered if anyone steals your vehicle.

Zego’s Scooter insurance offers you the choice between Fully Comprehensive, Third Party, Fire & Theft and Third Party Only cover, so you can get the amount of protection you need.

Our Car delivery insurance offers you Fully Comprehensive cover, subject to you having the same level of cover in place for your underlying Social, Domestic & Pleasure insurance.

3. How many hours do you plan to work?

The number of hours you plan to work is a good indication of what type of policy is right for you. Zego’s pay-as-you-go insurance is designed specifically for part-time workers, so if you’re planning on working up to 25 hours per week, you could save money with this type of cover.

If you’re planning on working 25 hours or more per week, you may wish to consider a 30-day or annual insurance policy. These options can be more cost-effective for full-time delivery workers.

4. Company reviews

Trust plays a huge role in deciding the insurance provider you choose for work. Can you trust the company you’re looking at taking out your policy with? What have other customers said about them?

You want to be sure that you can trust the company that you’re taking out your policy with and reviews are a great indicator of customer satisfaction. If lots of people have had a bad experience with an insurance company, then there’s a risk that you will too.

It’s always a good idea to do your due diligence and check review sites, like Trustpilot or the company’s reviews on Google before you purchase your policy with them.

5. What if my details change?

If your details are likely to change during the course of your policy, make sure to check whether a company charges admin fees. How much will they charge you if you change your vehicle? What about if you move to a different address?

At Zego, we don’t charge any admin fees for changing your details, but some companies will. So how much it will cost to change things on your policy is an important detail.
