How does it work?
You need the Sense app installed on your phone to use a Sense policy. That’s because the app uses your smartphone’s sensors to measure how you drive. It picks up on things like your acceleration, cornering and braking, then gives you a driver score to show how well you’re doing. A higher score means better discounts when you renew!
How do we calculate your score?
The Sense app uses location and motion data from your phone’s sensors to build a picture of your driving behaviour.
It measures how often certain things happen while you’re driving, like braking harshly or accelerating too quickly.
Then, using clever calculations, it turns this data into a score to show how well you drive.Why does your score change even when you don’t drive?
As your driver score is calculated over a long period of time, you might notice that it changes even on days when you don’t drive. Don’t worry, that’s completely normal! We use data from a longer time period to give you a score that more accurately reflects how you drive. This way, you get to see the results of how your driving is improving, sooner.
All of this means that your score is constantly changing. It’s designed to show you (and us) how your driving skills are improving throughout your policy, so that you can earn the best discounts at renewal.
