What do we collect

If you are just visiting the website we do not collect your personally identifiable information. We do however use website tracking which can see some personal data (1).

If you are registering your interest for new products via the website we will collect your personally identifiable information (2)

  1. Tracking

    Through tracking we can see:

    • IP Addresses

    • Country / City of origin

    • Browser (Google Chrome / Safari, etc)

    • Internet Provider (Virgin media etc)

    • Device type - (Mobile, Tablet, Desktop)

    • Operating System (Mac OS 10.13.1, etc)

    Through these details alone we would not be able to identify who you are and we take extra steps to make event these details as unlinked to you as possible.

    Extra steps:

    • Scramble IP Addresses / make them unreadable.

    • Only collect Country /City of origin never specific addresses.

    How do we collect it

    We track the activity on our website with third party tools called LuckyOrange, Google Analytics and HubSpot who are equally committed to protecting your privacy:

    Why do we collect it

    We track activity on our website to create a better experience for you, our website visitors. We want to make sure you can find everything you need and have all the information to fully understand Zego and our products.

    What we do with it and for how long

    We don’t share this data with anyone else and the data deletes every 30 days.

    Your rights

    Just to be clear - none of the information we collect can be traced back to you so it is not considered personal information. For instance - we would know that the same person was:

    • From London;

    • Clicked on three pages on the website;

    • Used a mobile phone to do it;

    • On internet provided by Virgin Media;

    • On the website right at this moment in time

    But, we would never know who that person really is or how to find them.

    If you are not happy sharing this information with us through the tools we use, you are free to opt out by visiting their websites.

  2. Registering your interest

    What data do we collect and how do we collect it?

    We collect your name / contact details and sometimes the companies your work with through our web based forms when you register your interest for a new product.

    Is it legal?

    We collect this information under the lawful basis of consent.

    • Consent - In these cases it is your decision whether or not we process the data in that way and you are able to change your mind at any time.

    When we collect the information we will contact you directly in relation to the information you registered interest in unless you request for us to also contact you in other situations.

    Does anybody else get the data and where is it?

    We use this information internally only to contact you in relation to what you are registering your interest for. The data is stored and kept within the EU. We will not send your data elsewhere.

    Personal information of others

    If you give us information about another person (for example a family member or a client), it is your responsibility to ensure and confirm that:

    • you have told the individual who Zego is and how we use personal information (as set out in this Privacy Notice); and

    • you have permission from this individual to provide their personal information (including any sensitive personal data) to us and for us to process it, as set out in this Privacy Notice.

    How long do we keep it for?

    We will keep this information for up to a year if you register your interest and do not become a customer. Unless you remove your consent in which case we will delete it within 1 month (under GDPR) or as soon as possible.

What are your rights?

Now that the law has changed you have so many more rights than you had before! Below are all your rights in no nonsense language but just in case you want to know their official data protection name will be in bold.

  • The right to know and understand what happens with your data

    Companies have to tell you now what happens with your data. We do this through our privacy notice and if it ever changes - we will always let you know. “The right to be informed

  • The right to get your personal data

    You can request all of the data we hold on you and there is no fee for doing so! This is the same for all companies and we must send you your data within 30 days now. “The right of access”.

  • The right to change your personal data if it is incorrect

    Do you think something we hold on your is incorrect? We will do everything we can to make sure our information is accurate but if you can show us it is not just ask us to change it and we will. “The right to rectification

  • The right to have your data deleted

    You can ask us to delete your data if a) we no longer need it b) if you have given us your consent and now want to remove that consent c) we have got the data unlawfully. “The right to erasure

  • The right to stop us doing some things with your data

    You can ask us to a) make our data more accurate b) stop using your data if you think it we are using it illegally and you don’t want us to delete it just restrict what we are doing c) you don’t want us to delete it but do want us to stop using it whilst you are trying to make a legal claim d) we are using legitimate interests to use it and you do not agree we have them. “The right to restriction

  • The right to have your data so you can use it elsewhere

    If you want the data you gave us so that you can give it to someone else - even another insurance provider - we can give it to you. “The right to data portability

    You can say no to a) direct marketing b) to use using your data for ‘public tasks’ or ‘legitimate interests’ or ‘research purposes’ “The right to object

  • You have the right to withdraw your consent - at any time

    We ask for your consent to contact you about things that are not directly to do with your current contract with us. For marketing, for offers and maybe in the future for new things. When we ask you consent you can at any time change your mind.

Who is in charge and who do you contact?

Zego are not currently big enough to have a Data Protection Officer - we do not carry out large scale systematic monitoring or large scale processing of special categories of data. Changes to this Privacy Notice

We may amend this Privacy Notice from time to time for example, to keep it up to date or to comply with legal requirements we will let you know if and when we do.
